Ship / Barge Loading System

Across the globe, ships / barges are used for transport of bulk materials. Macawber Beekay specializes in ship / barge loading systems, especially for fly ash application. This system is more pertinent to the power plants, located near coastal area, those need to export fly ash generated in their plant for utilizing in cement plants or for final disposal elsewhere.Macawber Beekay backed with extensive experience in fly ash handling, offers Stationary type Ship / Barge Loading System to be installed on Jetty. The components of system consist of the following:

  • Fly ash buffer silo, equipped with pulse jet bag filter and Level measuring instruments on the top
  • Isolation & process valves at the silo bottom
  • Fly ash extraction equipment viz Rotary Feeder (with VFD) and a set of Screw Conveyors
  • Boom structure with Pivot
  • Telescopic Loader with dedusting arrangement.

OPERATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

The operational philosophy of Ship Loading System is quite simple. The system is operated through a PLC based Control Panel. Local / Remote Selection Switch is also included in Ship Loading Panel to operate the equipment in sequence from local panel also, in sync with PLC.

SHIP LOADING SYSTEM PROCEDURE

The operational philosophy of Ship Loading System is quite simple. The system is operated through a PLC based Control Panel. Local / Remote Selection Switch is also included in Ship Loading Panel to operate the equipment in sequence from local panel also, in sync with PLC.

  • Pivoting Operation: Once ship is placed, Main arm of boom structure rotate through local panel either for loading or for stowing. Any arm position is possible during loading procedure. When position is reached, boom rotation will soft stop by engaging the brake, holding the reached position without a bouncing effect.
  • Loading Operation: Once signal active that pivoting operation is done successfully, the telescopic loader will be lowered to the ship level, hold at a height commanded by a radar sensor. Once in position, the de-dust blower will start and will provide loading duct dedusting.
    • When all clear, the first Loading screw conveyor will start, the second Feeding conveyor will run after a time gap and finally the rotary valve at the silo will start.
    • Then after the silo outlet valve will open and the material will come through Rotary Vane Feeder with a limited quantity. And ship loading is started.
  • Stopping Sequence: Stopping sequence will be done from local operator panel.
    • First the silo outlet valve is closed. After this RVF will stop.
    • Then the feeding screw conveyor will run for few seconds and then stop. After feeding conveyor stops, loading conveyor will run up for few seconds and then stop.
    • Once completed, the telescopic loader can be rewind into its stowing position then finally the de-dusting blower can be stopped, and all the loader can be set into stand-by.
    • Once full ship is loading after stopping sequence the main arm will be stowed to its initial position.
